Cutting-edge brain research, 3D printing, and virtual reality in the HUNOR Mission

2025-09-10

The website of the Medical School at the University of Pécs reviewed the research conducted by the university's research groups as part of the HUNOR – Hungarian Astronaut Program, supported by some video material. The article primarily discusses the university's own projects.

The research project, named MagyAR, uses unique technological equipment to examine the effects of physiological changes occurring in weightlessness on brain function. The SiS – Step in Space project is a virtual tour of the International Space Station in VR. Last but not least, ESEL3D is a fantasy name for printed samples and test specimens undergoing material technology testing to determine how cosmic radiation, microgravity, and the additional gravitational load associated with launch and landing modify the microbiological and mechanical properties of objects.

The post reports on a future research center to be established at the School of Medicine. Its primary goals include supporting space research projects, but it also reveals how engineers at the 3D Center are assisting in the cultivation of plants in space as consortium partners.
